Baroness Quin's talk: to deal with how the vote was granted to women and what results have been in terms of Women's representation in Parliament and Government since.
Rt. Hon Baroness Joyce Quin is a Labour Party politician in the UK.  First elected to the European Parliament in 1979 she was subsequently elected to the House of Commons in 1987 for the constituency of Gateshead East.  During her Parliamentary career she served as Minister for Prisons and Probation, Minister for Europe and Minister of State for Agriculture.  

Her interest in France began at school and she has a first-class degree in French from Newcastle University.  Before entering politics full-time she lectured in French and Politics at Bath and Durham Universities.  

Joyce Quin has chaired the All-Party Parliamentary Group on France, the Franco-British Council and has been Vice-Chair of the Franco- British Society.  She was made an Officier de la Legion d’Honneur in 2010.
Joëlle Garriaud-Maylam is a French politician (member of the Bureau Politique of Les Republicains) who has been serving as a Senator for the French citizens living abroad since September 2004, being re-elected in 2011 and 2014. A lawyer by training (she also attended the Institute for High Defence studies - IHEDN- and the ENA ‘s programme on European Studies), she worked prior to her entry to the Senate as an expert and consultant for various national and international companies and institutions. She was continuously elected as a representative of the French living in the UK and the Republic of Ireland to the Assembly of French citizens abroad between 1988 and her being elected to the Senate in 2004. 

She  belongs to the Senate Committee for European Affairs and is also :
- Secretary of The Senate Standing Committee of the Foreign Affairs, Défense and Armed Forces of the Senate
- Vice-Chair of the Senate’s  delegation for Women’s rights and equality of chances
- Chair of the NATO’s Parliamentary Committee on the Civil dimension of Security
- Member of the Board of the French Institute for High Defence Studies (IHEDN) 
- Member of the Franco-British Council 

She has been awarded the Legion d’Honneur by President Jacques Chirac in July 2002.
