The Rose In History
Its presence and its perfume from antiquity to the Renaissance, the rose and its poets, the rose queen of perfume.

The Franco-British Society had the pleasure to invite its members to an immersive talk on the theme of roses
by French luxury perfumes and cosmetics specialist Regine Pasquet.
On Wednesday 8th May 2024
At Odile Mourre/Lombard's - 11 Park Square West, London NW1 4LJ

Since ancient times, the rose has been known for its beauty and fragrance. The queen of flowers, in many civilisations, it carries exceptional symbolic richness. Present in history, art, literature and especially poetry, the rose is also one of the most beautiful flowers used in perfumery, a true symbol of femininity and love.

Régine Pasquet took our group on a beautiful journey to France, then to England, through the different facets of this unique flower, its history and its symbols. George Sand, the famous French writer, presented the rose as “the daughter of God and Men”.

This talk was a fascinating immersive experience where attendees had the opportunity to smell magnificent rose masterpieces including La Rose Jacqueminot by François Coty.

The talk was followed by a light dinner.

A free visit of the Queen Mary's Rose Gardens in Regent’s Park was organised prior to the talk.

"What a wonderful Rose evening! It was almost hypnotic and so relaxing to be among roses and all the perfumes. The setting was perfect and it was a delight to be in such a beautiful house. Thank you for organising it." from Cynthia Gamble, member of the Franco-British Society

Régine Pasquet

Born in 8th arrondissement of Paris in 1959, I have devoted my entire career to the world of luxury perfumes and prestigious cosmetics. Inspired by the refinement of fragrances, I have always had a passion for the history of their brands, their heritage and their products. Throughout my career, I have had the chance to tell their stories, their olfactory territories, from writings, archives, major scents, for Luxury Groups such as Givenchy at LVMH, Carita at Shiseido and the Coty Group. Passionate about the world of olfactory notes, I am particularly fascinated by flowers and especially by their Queen: the Rose and its worlds in perfumery.

Young retiree, married with two grown-up daughters and two grand-daughters, I devote myself fully to this passion that drives me: writing and telling beautiful, fragrant stories.
A special thank you to Regine Pasquet for her very inspiring lecture and to Odile Mourre for hosting the group in her house.
