This is UK's first ever exhibition dedicated to the life of French queen Marie Antoinette.
It will explore the origins and countless revivals of the style shaped by the most fashionable queen in history. A fashion icon in her own time, the dress and interiors modelled and adopted by the ill-fated queen of France in the final decades of the eighteenth century have had a lasting influence on over 250 years of design, fashion, film and decorative arts. |
|
Dr. Sarah Grant, Senior Curator at the V&A is the curator of this landmark exhibition. With extensive expertise in the decorative arts, Dr. Grant has published widely on 18th and 19th century design and curated numerous acclaimed exhibitions. Her scholarship and curatorial experience bring a nuanced understanding of the complex interplay of style, identity, and cultural myth that defines Marie Antoinette’s enduring legacy.
